The break-up announced, and a new band from the remnants

HOT FLASHES: Much to the dismay of their American fans, the members of Flash have disbanded and gone their separate ways. Although they achieved a fair measure of success in this country (all three albums made the charts over here) they were never well received in England. Reports from England say that drummer Mike Hough has elected to stay in this country for a while, singer Colin Carter and bassist Ray Bennett are forming a new band together, and guitarist Peter Banks is joining an as yet undisclosed British band.

Flying Cats
Several albums and a mug of coffee later Chris Ward and I boycotted the Underground — “I’m beginning to feel like a mole,” he complained — to hoof it back to the Nellie where our genial but busy London host, Derby drummer Mike Hough later joined the gathering.
Mike was caught up in intensive rehearsals of the new band formed from the remnants of Flash, ready for their British debut at the Marquee on June 27 prior to heading for the United States in a fresh bid for fame and fortune.
With Mike in the new band are vocalist / writer Colin Carter and bassist / writer Ray Bennett who were both in Flash, plus a guitarist and keyboards player.
The co-operative set-up will play under the astounding name of Flying Cats.
Best of luck to Mike and rest of the Cats. They really deserve it.
